Recruitment Process
PHASE 1
Written Application
The written application is your chance to introduce yourself and tell us why you’re interested in consulting and in Scope. We want to learn more about your experiences, interests, and what excites you about joining our organization. This helps us get to know you beyond your resume.
PHASE 2
Group Interview
If you advance to Phase 2, you’ll take part in a group case interview. You will work with a team of fellow candidates to solve a problem and present a final recommendation. We’re interested to see how you approach unfamiliar challenges and communicate your ideas while collaborating as a team. This phase is designed to be interactive and gives us insight into how you contribute in a group setting.

No preparation is needed! Everything you need to know will be provided during the interview.
PHASE 3
Individual Interview
If you advance past the group interview, the individual interview is the final stage of our recruitment process. The interview includes a behavioral portion and a technical portion. Candidates will choose in advance between a business case or a computer science-focused technical. This is also an opportunity for us to get to know you better and for you to learn more about Scope and see if it’s the right fit for you.

Individual Interview Preparation
If you advance past the Group Interview, you’ll move on to the third and final phase of Purdue Scope’s recruitment process: the Individual Interview. This is a 50-minute interview with two members of Scope’s leadership team.
15 Min | Behavioral
The individual interview will begin with a short behavioral portion focused on your experiences, interests, and how you approach different situations.
How to prepare:
Review common behavioral interview questions
Practice using the STAR method to structure your responses
30 Min | Case
Following the behavioral portion, you will then complete an interviewee-led case based on the track you select: Business or Technology. Neither format offers an advantage in the recruitment process. Choose the case that best aligns with your interests and strengths.
Business Case
Work through an open-ended business problem, ask questions, analyze the information provided, and develop a recommendation.
How to prepare:
Watch the Business Mock Interview Video below to familiarize yourself with the interview format
Review common case interview frameworks to learn how to structure your approach
Review common business terminology and concepts
Technology Case
Work through a technology-focused problem and explain your approach, reasoning, and recommendations.
How to prepare:
Practice breaking down technical concepts into simple terms and communicates their thought process
Review foundational concepts relevant to your technical background
5 Min | Closing
In the last few minutes of the interview, you’ll have the opportunity to ask your interviewers any questions you have about Purdue Scope.
